This is something I believe in strongly enough to actually update my journal.

Even though hardly anyone reads it anymore, at least someone does.

I don't live in California. I can't vote for California. I do, however, live in the United States of America, which has promised me Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness at equal standing with the other citizens of the country.

California's proposition 8 would break that promise. It isn't called Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry for nothing. It eliminates rights. It allows the church to (once again) influence a state's law. It allows the law to discriminate, to segregate. It will allow a bunch of bigoted, fearful, overly religious pisspockets to tell other people how they can live their lives. I wasn't aware that this was American. Were you?

This is bullshit. It's wrong. And another thing that's wrong is that whichever campaign has more cash has a higher chance at winning. Since the Mormons own Utah and are loaded with GodMoney (because church and state are totally seperate), they have been plunging millions of dollars into this steaming pile of crap. We may not have thirty-fucking-thousand dollars per person to spend on telling someone else how to live their life, but we do have some money and we need to help.

You don't like gay marriage? Fine, don't marry someone of the same sex. Don't go to a church that will allow it. But don't allow your fellow human beings to be discriminated against under the CONSTITUTION. That is exactly the OPPOSITE of what this country was built on. Gay marriage won't set your parents wedding rings on fire, it won't take away the rights of heterosexuals, their children, or their establishments. We are for KEEPING rights, not taking them.

I want to live to see this discrimination end. Let's all fight it.
